“Meraki: Discover a Piece of Surrealism” by Kayle Riley
Meraki is a company that sells subscription boxes based on different types of Surrealists. The tagline “Discover a Piece of Surrealism” gives the customers an idea of what they can expect from each of the subscription boxes in different seasons. As a customer you will have the opportunity to peak inside the mind of a surrealist. The boxes are created in three sections of dream states, each of which is inspired by three of the Surrealist’s paintings. The effects of surrealism can be intertied in reality towards anyone who received the box.
So, what is in each of the boxes? A Meraki’s subscription box includes: a theme mug, a sweater shirt, socks, and eye mask. Each box has a secret compartment board that lifts from the bottom and exposes a journal, pen, and stickers. In addition, there are patterns in the inside and outside of each box; whereas the inside patterns are inverted into a different color scheme. The experiences that Meraki wants to give to our customers is a sense of magic in every box.
The surrealist of this season of Fall 2020 is Salvador Dali. His inspired pieces are First Days of Spring 1941, The Face of War 1940, and The Persistence of Memory 1931. First Days of Spring is the dream of state of Dali’s Good Dreams and Fantasies; while, The Face of War is his Nightmares and Horrors, and The Persistence of Memory is his Lucid dreams.
The subscription boxes expressed who I am as an artist with embracing the mind of a famous surrealist.
